Nyia McGhee- Johnson

FOUNDing Executive Director

I was born in California and raised in Portsmouth Virginia until I was 11 years of age.  I later moved with my mom to North Carolina after she received a better opportunity.  She then raised my 3 brothers and I pretty much by herself.  She taught me to be resilient and strong minded.  It is because of her that I am who I am today and am passionate about helping women in our communities.  She has taught me to stand for something or you will fall for anything.  I believe that women are special to our communities and it is because of my premise that A Made Up Mind was formed and that is that whether you decide to do good or evil, whatever the case it all takes a made up mind.

Consider something as simple as weight loss and exercise, if you did not make up in your mind first to execute your plan of action you would fail miserably due to all the temptations that lie at work and all around us.  Any decision we make requires a made up mind.   My commitment to help our community through intentional actions and programming took my mind to be made up, because for a while it was just a thought until I decided to put it into action and here it is being introduced to you today.   Please welcome A Made Up Mind incorporated, aimed at being a source of strength for you and your community the same way that my mother was for me in my life.

- Thanks SuperMom for all that you have done for me over the years.
